No spectacular reports, I just did some shooting today and thought I'd post some pictures. I got a few hours this morning to go to the range. I normally do my shooting up in the hills where I can get away from other people, but I go to the range when I want to do some work from the bench. I wanted to check the sights on a couple of rifles
and I brought some other guns along as well just to blast away and burn some ammo.
For handguns there was my GP100, Glock 30, 642, and my 1933 Walther PP that I inherited from my grandfather. The PP is a dream to shoot. Very accurate and functions reliably.
The M38 I just bought recently. This was my first time shooting it, using Russian surplus 147 grain boat tail (shoots good in my 91/59). It didn't go so well. The bore is a bit dark, but the rifling looks good. But I couldn't tell where the bullets were hitting on the target. The crown looks okay. But I didn't spend much time on it because I only brought it along to make some noise. It also had a hard time chambering rounds. The bolt didn't want to lock into battery, it was being real difficult. It fired without a hitch, just didn't want to chamber rounds. I'll investigate it more later.
The 336 did great. Nice small groups with Federal 150 gain flat points. Next time out I'll try it with the scope I have set aside for it.
The K31 is the main reason for the range trip. I wanted to check the sights. The front sight was over to the left when I bought it, and there were hash marks stamped into it at that location. I figured that was just how it shot. But I found the groups were off to the right. By the time I got the groups right on the money, the front sight was exactly centered.
I was using Wolf Gold 174 grain SP. The groups were pretty good. Next I'm going to order some GP11 and try it in this scout configuration with a pistol scope...
