I love those pistols.  That price seems high, but if that looks like a good price after doing some gunbroker.com research, go for it.

Isn't that what they cost new?

Thats what I was thinking. I have not seen one in the case at a store lately but that seems a little high for a used one to me.

Can't buy them new in the commie state of MA. They are hard to find, but since it doesn't look like a good deal, I will just live without a 1911

That's what the GI models were going for the last time I saw one.

I saw a Milspec today that the FFL was asking $699 for.

$650 for a Loaded model used isn't bad.

What model was it?

Well that does change the value then. I say if you want it buy it, even if you happen to overpay a bit ( and I am not saying you would be ). I bet there is not one person on this board who has not overpaid for a gun at one time or another.

By name or type?  If banned by name and you have other 1911 choices, bad deal.  If by type and there are no new 1911s available, then actually not a bad deal at all probably.

It just said 1911-A1.  On it. Parked., looked like a WW2 replica.

Wow, the GI prices have really climbed.  Bought mine new (at a gunshow!!) about 5 years ago for $450

Not banned. Just dealers can not sell any new handgun unless it meets MA bullshit requirements or was registered in state before 1998.

Only new 1911s for sale by dealers are S&W, Remington, some older ones are seen now and then like norinco and some others.

I just thought Sringfield might be a high quality 1911, I don't know anything about them. I'm a used glock guy.

Only handguns that dealers can transfer are controlled are on a list, that also des not include new glocks. It would take 40 ages to explain the communist regs controlled by the state AG, under consumer protection rules.

In a free state, I expect the price is much lower.

So does Imbel and they are as good as FNs.

650 is way too high for a stock, used SA 1911. It would be the going rate for a loaded version with night sights, used in good shape.

Also, note that some of them are missing the additional radii cut on the front strap and dust cover. It makes them feel bad in the hand and not fit some holsters, well.

Didn't realize there was false inflation, there. I guess it may be the going rate, there. SA pistols are gtg, with the exception of the previously mentioned shortcut on pistols around the era you're talking about.

I paid $400.00 for a used 1911A1 - loaded edition.

They are asking to much.

I'd be just as happy with the Remington.  The Springfields (in my opinion) don't have much cost/value ratio until you get into the loaded models, and even then it's not particularly high.  The TRP I think is an excellent cost/value ratio, but is twice the price.
