My minivan came with some fancy Michelin tires and that still have some decent tread (according to the penny).  I have 38,000 miles on the van and tires.

Yesterday, I had a flat (the wife drove over a large screw) so I'm going to the tire store soon to have fixed.

In addition, there is some uneven wear on two of the tires (one is the flat one).

Clearly, I need to at least have the flat fixed if possible and get an alignment.  My question is do I have to replace both tires with the uneven wear.  Or should I just do all four.  I know what the tire guys will say, so I'd like an unbiased opinion.l

Thanks

I hate replacing fewer than 4 tires at a time.  I just hate it.

Me too.  But I also hate wasting money

IMO replacing in pairs is fine.

Some cars even have different sized tires in the rear vs. the front.

Two new tires to replace the ones with uneven wear, have those put on the front, and get an alignment.

If they ride OK, I would not replace anything yet.

This, depending on how bad the wear is.  You may just be able to put the two best tires on the front and get an alignment.

I would probably just get 4 tires
Tire kingdom usually runs a special every couple months of buy one get one as long as you get an alignment.
With this "special" you save a bit of cash.
Can you put on a full size spare and wait a bit for a good sale?

I prefer to do all four at a time to make it easier to rotate the tires.  Put the new tires in the rear if you just get two.

I'd also replace all four. Rotate them often

What decade do you live in?  Thanks, but I'm running a donut right now.

I had some uneven wear on two of my tires, and had them moved to the rear.  The shop said that they could go out at any time and wanted me to get new ones right then.  I went another 12K miles on them before getting all 4 done.  I knew it was time when my wet traction was shitty.
