I would like to install some, but every time I find a place that lists one I like and I click on it, I get sent to the Microsoft Desktop Gadgets page, which lists a total of 30 gadgets which never change.

What am I missing here? I remember the MS page being loaded with these things.

I don't remember.  I think it had to do with the coming release of Win 8.  There was something on InfoWorld about it late last year..
