http://publications.gc.ca/collections/collection_2008/ps-sp/PS63-2-1998-3E.pdf Is this the publication you're after? ETA that's prob not it, hang on. |
| Interesting stuff but not what I was looking for. Thanks, though. MacPherson developed a method of compensating for .177cal BB penetration in gel so that if the calibration shot wasn't exactly the right depth, the block could still be used. His method was referenced in several places but I can't find the chart that you're supposed to use to do the correction. |

Lots of references to it not much actual data. eta: Might have better luck posting this in the Terminal Ballistics forum. Someone there probably has a copy of the book or at least knows the correction method. Where is the Terminal Ballistics forum? Sorry ammo forum I meant. Terminal ballistics is a different website. http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_3/16_.html |

I was thinking of M4Carbine. I think links are frowned upon here so just Google it. |

I think mods are okay with it as long as you're not advertising or linking to something with non CoC compliant content. At least they're okay with it in the tech forums. |

I need to locate Figure 5-2 in MacPherson, Duncan (1994). Bullet Penetration: Modeling the Dynamics and the Incapacitation Resulting from Wound Trauma. El Segundo, CA: Ballistic Publications. It is referenced as a means to correct for BB penetration in ballistic gel. My local library doesn't have it and neither does my university library. I can't afford to buy the book on Amazon and my limited Googlefu has been unsuccessful. Any idea on where I can get hold of just the figure in question? While I'd love to read the whole book, right now I'm just interested in the correction method. I have a copy of the book if someone doesn't post the figure. It was re-printed in 2005 because of its popularity and that's when I bought it, back when I actually came here for information about guns and ammo. |

You can IM or email it at your convenience if you prefer. |
