Their site reads as though the buyer chooses the recipient organization, not the seller. The seller just agreed to let them use their checkout procedure. Join the ConnectionPlus™ community and support great causes with your online shopping! Once you've joined ConnectionPlus™, your purchases from approximately 700 online stores and sites will financially support your chosen organization - without adding any additional cost to you! By downloading the ConnectionPlus™ toolbar, you'll be supporting your chosen organization whenever you shop with one of our partners. I wonder how many bullshit pop-ups and other crap will appear after someone downloads the toolbar.

I subscribe to the Texas Democratic Party's newsletter (hold your friends close, your enemies closer). This was included in their latest newsletter. I will be contacting some of those on the list to let them know I will no longer purchase from them. I'm surprised that Bass Pro was not included, I was told by a counter salesman a while back that ARs are not legitimate sporting rifles. I have never made another purchase from them sinse then.

There is a 149 page list of organizations that YOU choose from to support with your purchases. These stores are not necessarily supporting democrats. |

The Democrats haven't partnered directly with those companies. Those companies have affiliate programs that pays a small commission for orders placed through affiliate links. The Democrats are trying to get people to use a toolbar and/or a shopping website that contains affiliate links. That toolbar and website is created by a company (connections plus) that then shares part of the commission with the Democrats. If you call those companies and threaten them they will a) have no idea what you are ranting about, and b) think you are crazy. |

I'm glad to hear that they are not directly associating with the companies on the list as I was very surprised to see them there. I will still take it upon myself to contact them and inquire. Perhaps they do not want to be confused as a partner. I was merely forwarding this information, you may do what you think is appropriate with it.
"if you call those companies and threaten them they will a) have no idea what you are ranting about, and b) think you are crazy." 1) Why would you make the mistaken assumption that I would be ranting? (It is far better to politely, but firmly state your concerns and keep them listening than rant, see #4 below). 2) In a polite discourse, I have no control of what they think, some people jump to unreasonable conclusions. 3) An email is the best way to contact them as it may be forwarded internally to those making corporate decisions, a phone call is soon lost. 4) You should invest in a class on negotiating, sounds like you are speaking from your own perspective and projecting your tendancies on others. |
| thats business ,in alot of places esp democratic strongholds like Detroit if your a business owner you better be giving to the dems or bad things could happen like licensing not renewed, audits, utility issues ect...most would call it extortion but here is business as usual. |

So until we educated you on exactly what was going on you were ready to email those companies to complain that they were supporting the Democratic Party of Texas and because of that you were no longer going to shop with them. They would rightly have no idea what you are talking about and if I were them I would file your email in the loony folder after replying with a generic "sorry you had a bad experience" message. I apologize if you took offence as my suggestion you would rant, it just seemed to me that you would be the type to rant as you posted that baseless accusation against all those companies without taking the time to fully understand the situation. |

"So until we educated you on exactly what was going on you were ready to email those companies to "complain" * (an inquiry is not a complaint)* that they were supporting the Democratic Party of Texas and because of that you were no longer going to shop with them *(if it turned out to be true, then yes)* . They would rightly have no idea what you are talking about *(sounds like you have problems getting your point across, again projecting your tendancies on someone else)* and if I were them I would file your email in the loony folder *(where your responses belong)* after replying with a generic "sorry you had a bad experience" message.
I apologize if you took offence as my suggestion you would rant, it just seemed to me that you would be the type to rant *(you made this assumption after ONE post from me)* *(a negotiating class would help you get a more clear understanding and convey your point, they are only couple of hundred dollars)* as you posted that baseless accusation *(I forwarded what I had received)* against all those companies without taking the time to fully understand the situation." ––- On Fri, 3/23/12, Bill Brannon, Texas Democrats <[email protected]> wrote: From: Bill Brannon, Texas Democrats <[email protected]> Subject: Free, Easy Way to Help Dems Win Date: Friday, March 23, 2012, 1:46 PM Dear Charles, I wanted to tell you about an easy and free way to support the Texas Democratic Party. Ok, I've tried explaining to you that your email to those companies will have no effect, the person reading the email will not understand your concern and even if they were outraged there is nothing they can do about it other than shutting off connection plus as an affiliate (which would shut off the 149 pages of organizations using connection plus).
Feel free to respond again accusing me of projecting my inadequacies or needing a negotiating class if it makes you feel better. |
