I have been trying to get TrueCrypt to Autorun and mount a container on a USB thumbdrive. Apparently, this is not possible with Windows according to the TrueCrypt documentation. My question then is this: is it possible to make a program, script or whatever that will open TrueCrypt and perform the steps to mount the volume automatically?
I need this to work for end-users who don't know much about computers, and who will be accessing pretty much any Windows machine they choose to do so. Any help would be appreciated. PS: I have it working just fine on CD's, but they just aren't as nice and sizeable as USB drives. |

Microsoft disabled auto-run from removable media to reduce the risk of viruses. You would have to launch the script. [run]Do not forget that truecrypt is for security, not convince.[/red] Yes, and no. My purposes don't require a bizarre level of security. They just require the data be innaccessible should the USB be lost. Using TrueCrypt and the Corsair Survivor USB gives great security and survivability for everyday use. IronKeys are too pricey. |

I did that, but it won't launch when I set up a Travelers Disk on the USB. It works fine on a CD and simply prompts for password and mounts the volume. |

I tried this before with not much luck
IIRC, USB drives are permanently banned from autorunning anything after malware was being propagated on them back sometime in the XP SP2 timeframe... ETA: in windows 7, the OPEN and ACTION commands in the autorun.inf are disabled for USB drives and you can't trick autoplay either |
