| What would cause a 2 year old system to have condenser unit coils and A-Coil to be full of holes ? |

Happens here on the coast quite frequently, enviornment; had ours replaced under warranty at about the 2 year point. Will since he's in IL. guess we can skip the salt air, would a contaminatedied charge do somthing ? guess getting both units seems odd to me |

How about any other of your appliances, have they been ok? Do you have any copper water piping, does it have an odd color?
Ive seen homes that had some sort of sulfer compound that was leaching in through the basement. Whole house smelled like rotten eggs. Not much we could do about it. We installed an ERV to bring in fresh air to dilute the odor. That customer has since said that it made a huge improvement. As for your problem, formicary corrosion has plagued the industry ever since I started in the trade. Manufacturers like to blame it on dry wall, carpet glue, etc. It usually doesn't effect the outdoor section. R410a and coil leaks have been an especial pain in the ass, I wanna choke whoever invented it. If your contractor has any concern for you at all, they should atleast try to get a tin coated or all aluminum coil. Most manufacturers make a more corrosion resistant coil but they cost a little more money so you gotta press them on it to get them to cover it under warranty. |
