Hello All,

I just got a new to me Makita GR3501R gen set.  I changed the oil, checked the spark plug and cleaned the gas tank out with kerosene (good condition, no rust).

This is a metal tank and I've only had plastic before.

My question is: store with full with fuel + stabil or store empty?

store empty

Actually it depends on your intended use cycles, but longer than 6 months, I would empty.

Store empty, make sure to run it out of fuel or drain the carb.

Otherwise you wind up with a carb full of varnish and a non working genset when you actually need it.

Ask me how I know.

With the fuel now having 10 % ethanol i would store it empty. Drain the tank and run it till it quits.

You can either leave the carb full of fuel so you will have to clean the varnish out, or you can drain it of fuel so you will have to unstick the float.

This reminds me I think I left fuel in mine lats time I used it but turned off the gas and ran it until it died. I should see if it runs tomorrow. I might have both problems

Mine is used infrequently. That's what I do.  Works for me.      TT
