I went to one of their seminars and the lady who runs it is as far left wing you can get without rampant feminism getting in the way of making money off of you. They held the seminar at a local campus (surprise surprise) and they rambled on and on about children being left behind after police raiding homes. It was a basic sob story that makes cops out to be thugs who arrest people and abandon the children at the scene. They hounded the local law enforcement the entire time about how the police were contributing to the cycle of kids becoming addicts and criminals by arresting their parents in front of them. This is what I call this round two. When a film crew ventured to Africa to do another documentary they cam upon Koney and his crew. Invisible Children took up the cause and are now parading it around. If people did not realize the assholes in Africa use child soldiers people have been deluding themselves again. Hell, children get used as scouts and thugs in our own backyard. They just have something to latch onto and they will milk it for everything they can. If you care to go to their site you can see a financial breakdown (or their representation of it) Most of it goes to scholarships and the "Awareness tour". They are advocate the use of the military to go get Koney but don't realize (or do realize which even more fucked up) that the soldiers sent in would be facing the armed children they are talking about. Screwed this plan is. And the soldiers sent will be the onse screwed the hardest. |

Go to their Form 990 on their website and see in depth where the money goes. Over $700,000 in computer assets, over $1,000,000 in travel expenses, ~20% of the budget goes to salaries, all office supplies are bought through a company that is owned by Scott Wolfe (A board member/founder of invisible children). Let's not forget about $1,000,000 in video "production" costs... did I mention that the founder of Invisible children is the video producer? It's all a big scam, there are many more problems I see with their financials. They're funneling money out into the founders pockets however they can. For Christ's sake, they only actually give away around 3.2 million a year. 3 million of that is given by other organizations (maybe government?) as grants to invisible children. All the individual donations basically end up paying overhead which goes into the board members and founders pockets. |
