My 45cc Husky bogs down and stalls when I give it the throttle. It has new, stabilized 50:1 gas and was bought brand new last summer. It has run flawlessly since I bought it. Maybe has 15 hours on it total. Got any quick ideas? I have a brush fire going and it sucks having to restart the saw every 45 seconds.

Thanks from Maine

When my saws give symptoms like that..I usually fix it by changing the suction filter that floats around in the fuel tank on the fuel line...just fish it out of the tank with a piece of wire bent into a hook.

Could be the carburator too...ethanol containing fuel is not something you want to leave in the tank over the winter...or if possible don't use ethanol containing fuel at all.

Change out the gas for fresh stuff.

Thanks man I'll give the filter a shot. The is new but I'm still leaning in that direction.

is the brake on?

Rebuild the carb and never ever leave gas in it again. The 10% EH gas kills carbs, it breaks down any rubber in the carb and that rubber clogs up the ports and passages in the carb. Occasionally it eats away at the aluminum carb it's self too

No, it cuts fine for about 5 or 10 seconds

1. make sure brake isn't on
2.  Make sure the choke isn't still on (though I think Husky's automatically cut the choke when you squeeze the trigger)
3. Check the chain tension
4. My dad's Husky had similar symptoms.  Turns out ethanol gas DOES dissolve the fuel pick-up tube.  New filter and tube and it runs fine now (though he still runs it with ethanol gas for some reason )

ETA: saw your post about the brake.  ignore #1

Have you let it sit long without draining the gas?  If so, your carbs are probably gummed up.  Clean em, or just run some sea foam through it.

Write a nice letter to the EPA describing your troubles with Ethanol and fixed jet carbs.

They should be sympathetic to your plight.

If it cuts for a short period, then bogs, it's probably air being introduced somewhere it shouldn't be.  Cracked fuel lines, cracked pickup, cracked manifold (rubber boot between carb and jug).
