Anyone do this?
I am interested in doing this for both the curiosity, and for when I am out storm spotting for my local county during severe weather. Any tips or links to products would be greatly appreciated. |

To get this footage, I used a standard HD video camera on a ball-head mount. I have it on my dash no matter where I go. Interesting being able to capture those kind of moments, but I usually try and put them out of my mind as quickly as I can once I'm safely where I was going. Probably useful in an accident you're not at fault in, though. |

I have this camera. It can take up to a 64GB microSD card, has a GPS, and can record your speed and location into the video display. It says it can record 1080p but the video is really choppy. At 720p it has a great picture.DOD GS600 Car DVR/Car Black Box & GPS Logger NEW FIRMWARE V. 2.0.7 w/ MPH Speed Optionhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056J0QD6/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_detailsHere's a video I captured with the camera. It is of my engine blowing while driving through Gary Indiana last Thanksgiving weekend. |

And that right there is why when the weather is shitty I am content to stay behind the slowest driver in the right hand lane. Getting there late is better than getting there dead. |

My brother's employers run them in all of their fleet. He is a repo agent in Los Angeles, so having them is a good idea.
They have them aiming all four directions in the repo trucks, which helps them in court if a debtor tries to claim an assault, or damage to a vehicle. It also helped out when somebody ran into his truck, and claimed he was at fault causing the accident. Getting them with GPS add-ons can also help you in traffic court, if you were actually in the right. Stamped with your speed, and location, it can prove very handy. |
