Two that I know having read of my own ancestry are
Rebel Yell: basically a fearsome scream and not a sting of words. Basically the "we're full of piss and vinegar and we're gonna fuck you up" Who hasn't read of this? I have enjoyed reading Civil War topics since childhood. Spain's battle cry since the Reconquista: "Santiago y Cierra Espana!!!" translated as "St. James and strike (or charge), (for) Spain!!!!" I went to HS in PR and was taught a good deal of Spain's history. I'm no fan of the murdering and land thieving. But one of my ancestors was a Captain-General so I did read on the topic since HS. St. James the Moor (muslims from North Africa) Slayer is the patron saint of Spain. Matamoros is a cool last name, BTW.
Spanish was not my native language so the "cierra Espana" gave me trouble. It isn't "Close Spain". It's more like closing with the enemy. Engaging or attack the enemy. ETA: Maybe this is better...."St. James and Close!!!! SPAIN!!!!" |

"Deus Vult!" - God wills it! (I'm actually wearing a Viking Tactics tee shirt right now with a Santiago Cross for the T in Tactics on the front, and Deus Vult! on the back.) http://vikingtactics.com/images/11_swag/apparel/shirts/vtac-crusader_apparel.jpg "Ayo Gorkhali!" - The Gurkhas are coming! That. Is. Awesome. |

Huge oversight. How could I forget ARFCOM's? What would it be? FO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ARFlitia would cause mass confusion with enemy intelligence. They would think the 87th Brigade was everywhere at once. Agreed. They would also believe that we are divided in factions (the No Beans vs Beans and 9mm vs ACP). They would be mistaken!!! We put aside such differences when it matters. |

Excellent.

The Romans took over almost all that they step foot on.
The Scottsman's kilt was one item that defeated the Romans... and maybe that the Scotts liked to whip it off right before battle to show off raging hard-ons while yelling sweet nothings at them. da-da-damn, fucking fact and a sorry state of affairs at ARFCOM that someone else hasn't stated it. |

My thread is being rescued. That was a damn weak OP on my part. Apologies. |

Excellent. ![]() This. From then until the day I die this will be the phase I think of for this sort of thing. this man should have a monument to him a thousand feet high. He should appear on currency. He summed up everything that is good and honorable about America in two words and a few minutes of action, and he paid the highest price he could for that chance. |

Beat me to it. ![]() |

Hurrah!
It's what we'd yell when practicing a charge in the Danish army. Apparently the etymology goes back to the 30 Year's War in the early 1800s, and is a German/Scandinavian term, but I have also heard that it's been used even earlier than that in Eastern/Russian battles. |

Some other well known .mil org has something similar, IIRC. Paging Jarhead_22.

False fact. Scottish kilts weren't invented until the 16th century. |
