Gmail should be able to bring in your POP3 accounts as well.  My gmail can retire my ATT account via POP3.

He probably wants to sync his Geocities account also.

Seriously, just get a gmail account and add your pop(s) to it.

Is this 1996? Setup email forwarding and move on to a better email service.

I've been using Thunderbird for about 7 years now with no complaints.

I use gmail, but I don't care for web based email for day to day use... so Thunderbird it is.

When Outlook Express went away I looked around for a substitute, I've been using Thunderbird for about 2 years now, works better than Outlook Express ever did.

The problem with using gmail, (I think) is I have to log into their site to get my mail. With my old Outlook  express my mail is there when I open the program. Earthink is just an old account that I haven't around to canceling

So installed Thunderbird. It automatically setup my email account retrieving the server setting from Time Warner. Thunderbird says that my incoming and out going email servers are not encrypted and that it is a security risk. Should I worry? How do I fix this if its on Tie Warner's end?

SO I contacted Time Warner. Here is what they said:

Thank you for contacting Road Runner technical email Support.

As per your mail I understand that you are unable to access emails from the email account configured
in Mozilla Thunderbird. I understand your concern. I will provide you the information in this
regards.

I would like to inform you that RR email accounts uses POP servers but not IMAP.

So I assume that the email can't be encrypted. Am I correct? Just how bad is running without encryption for my email?

Most peoples email isn't encrypted.  It isn't a big deal, just don't be stupid and go sending your credit card into out in an email.
