I have wanted one for some time and found this one on GB.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=274590406 I am wondering what my maximum bid should be. Any suggestions? |

Quoted:
The bidding on that gun ran up to $2950 and did not hit its reserve when it ended on 2/19. He just relisted it with no reserve and a .01 start. WTF? There is one at my local funstore for 600 and change(IIRC, but if not, definitely not in the 800 range). That is outrageous. |

The one at the shop is a Century knock off. I sold a 386s on GB years ago for just over $2/k but mine had a lot of mags with it. |

I haven't checked any current values, but I noticed the one in the auction is a pre import ban IMI made in Israel. |

I didn't like it one way or the other. The safety pissed me off. Its a cool concept, but If I was gonna pay 2k for a rifle it would either be an SBR AR or something in 7.62... To each his own. |

Keep in mind that is a limited import IMI Israeli made Galil and not a newly made Century Arms Golani. The former of which will go for in the $2K+ or thereabouts range and the latter which will retail for $650 - $800. ETA: After further research, it is NIB, it will probably go for about $3K. |

This one is the real article and not a 386S which would be a convert. I had a Galil AR and am still kicking myself for letting it go. One of the best rifles I've owned. It would hold better than 1.75 moa and was supremely reliable. Ergos were very good except the thumb safety was a bit stiff. I'd be surprised if this rifle goes for less than 2700 bucks. (As previously mentioned bidding went to 2950). I don't think they're quite worth that. You're paying for the collectivity of it and as soon as you start shooting it, the value starts going down. I got mine back when they were a grand, which, technically was a lot of money in '87 (or there 'bouts). If you want one to shoot, pass. If you're jonesin' for a Galil, you probably won't find a nicer one but you'll pay for it. |
