| Whats the longest period of time a human can go without eating anything before it starts causing health problems? |
|
Me?
6 hours.
ETA: Define "health problems" and your patient population. The body will really start breaking down muscle after 3-4 days. __________________________________________________________________ Cross-platform gun database/electronic bound book (v1.3.2) (and the original thread). «nolite confidere in principibus, in filiis hominum quibus non est salus» |

Whats the longest period of time a human can go without eating anything before it starts causing health problems? Is this about the chick? She wasn't worth it... Eat, drink and be merry! I have no appetite at all and the sight of food is making me sick. |

Methinks you have bigger concerns than "how long can I go without food," like, say, "why do I have no appetite, and why is the mere sight of food making me sick?"

I know it will be gone one day, but for now I just cant eat anything. I don't want to end up passing out driving to work, that's why I asked. |

Well, passing out can happen a heck of a lot sooner than 3-4 days. Depends on how low your blood sugar is getting, or if you're drinking enough water, etc. ETA: Do what others here suggest. Go work out, then eat a bacon cheeseburger. ETA: Sprinkle the burger with MSG, too. |

Quoted: A: go to the damn doctor. That shit aint right. Yoy probably have the aidz ir some kind of cancer. B: go workout. Force yourself to do extremely vigorous exercise. You may break out of your funk, and work up an appetite. Unless its the aidz. ![]() OP just broke up with GF... He's experiencing the normal ebbs and flows of life. |

If you have sufficient fat and electrolytes stored in your body and drink plenty of water even a 'non-obese' person can go about 3 weeks without significant loss of muscle mass. Ketosis will set in fully after 72 hours and you will start to feel more alert and not hungry. You may not feel hungry for another 3 to 4 weeks while your fat stores are being eaten up. Vigorous physical activity can be harmful since your body is operating at a very low level.
When you start to feel hungry after a few weeks then it is an indication that you have used up your fat stores and your body is genuinely starving and rapidly starting to feed on your muscles and internal organs. Best to end a fast before this happens. |

Its only been a couple days but I had no idea how long I could go. I just have no desire to eat anything. |
