in the market for a smartphone. I currently have the casio boulder so naturally
the casio commando has my interest. While reading reviews I came across this: http://androidcommunity.com/casio-developing-quad-core-phone-and-new-gzone-for-verizon-20120118/
it seems that they are building a new commando with faster processors, better cameras, and running a newer version of the android os.
Most of the reviews on the commando seemed to complain about all this. Does anyone know anything? when verizon will start to sell it? price?
Looks like it will be a pretty powerful phone, along with being rugged.

Casio usually releases in July if memory serves me.

I have a Commando, about a year old. This is my ONLY complaint (well, aside from the bloatware Verizon installs that the user can't shut off or uninstall) is that the phone is a little on the slow side, especially when compared to my wife's iPhone. It is rugged and water resistant, which is why I got it. If you need the features, which I do, it's a great phone.  I'd get another in a heartbeat and the news that the new Commando will be faster is good news.

How does the Razr smartphone stack up to the old Commando in terms of ruggedness?  They advertise it like it can handle quite a bit of abuse, and if/when I ever switch over to a smart phone I'll need something that can take a pretty severe beating.

I don't know. I have a G'z One and it'll be the last Casio I ever own.

Why?  I've had a Boulder for two and a half years now and it's been the tits.  Except the battery is finally starting to get weak.

Had the Casio boulder for 3 years, it was awesome! Then I got the commando last year! I love it!

It does a really good job at being water proof, shock proof etc, and it still is a droid so it owns.

Had all these phones on my person during wildland firefighting seasons and they stood up at work which is saying something.

My only complaint is that with the latest update the text editor keeps crashing....it is very, very annoying

None of the new phones have done anything for me....so I've kept my BlackBerry.

If this does come out, I'll be the first in line.

Sorry, I misread the title.

I thought you typed Casino Commando.

The picture of a Dealer playing Blackjack while wearing a SWAT Team uniform entered my mind.  Include descending from the ceiling while suspended from a rope can used, too.

If you need a rugged phone, this one can not be beat. It may be a little slow, but the PT features and sheer toughness of the phone can not be beat. The screen has good resolution, the camera takes great pics and it does everything that other smart phones can do. I LOVE mine.

thanks for the replies. I guess I need to decide if I can wait until they release the new phone
or just get the current commando.

I'll double the slow part. Its rugged, but my brother's phone is slower than my EVO and the service SUCKS where he is for Sprint. I have a fifty dollar case on my EVO and it has more than paid for itself. Its not waterproof, but it has taken enough dives out of the truck, and down the stairs to make me realize the phone is tough.
