Well, I've almost done it. Day three and I'm still getting cravings, but trying to stay busy at work and with the wife and kids. Trying to keep occupied. I started smoking when I was 17 and I just turned 31.
14 years at about a pack a day. What a fuckin' dipshit. That's a whole lotta guns... |

I was about the same as you OP. Quit at around 25 though. It was weird, I just started to hang around people that didn't smoke and weened off of them. A pack would last longer and longer until I had a pack of smokes that I couldn't remember when I bought it. Anyway, good for you! Just take it one day at a time, eventually you'll have months, then years. |

I quit drinking - the Dr. said that after 10 days the craving would be gone.
I quit smoking, the Dr. said that after 10 years the craving would still come and go. I quit both at the same time. It takes focus and will power to turn away from the voice in the back of your mind. Keep at it and take it a day at a time. |

My Doc keeps offering to give me Chantix when I finally decide that I want to quit the cigs (or, in his words, "Ya know, I've got pills for that..."). The Doc then admitted to me that he used to be a smoker, but quit 15 years ago. I asked him if he missed it. He said, "Every day. In fact, between me and you, when I retire I'll probably start smoking again....."
