This might sound like an odd question.  I've been doing Linux for a long time.  Don't really know squat about Windows.  I have a Linux box that I was going to put Windows 7 on.  Right now it has a simple, single output video card.  I would like to have dual monitors.

If I buy a second video card, can it be another single output video card?  Will that work for doing dual monitors?

Yes.  I'm currently running three monitors off of two video cards.

Most video cards have dual outs these days.

Why buy another single?

Buy a new card, ditch the old one, dual mission accomplished with included software, no bullshit.

Just buy a splitter and run two monitors off your single video output.  It's the cheapest way to go.  You can do the setup in your Win7 display settings.  It's easy.

That doesn't work with a standard VGA or single link DVI port.

Most new video cards have dual outputs anyway.

There are some video cards that come with adaptors that let you, but you can't take the average HD15 and hang two displays off of it.

Not to start a pyramid.  This is what I'll do.  It makes the most sense.  The video now is just the on-board video.  It is nothing special.

Good advice.  Thanks.
