About 50% of the time when we try to start up IE or Firefox, the browser stalls and becomes unresponsive. In the lower left, it shows an unusual "ad" address, such as "ads.adexpose.com". This happens regardless of the page that we are trying to navigate to. For example, when I try to load my.yahoo or drudge, the page will load but it may take an extra 30 seconds while the unknown site is displayed in the lower left corner.
It's doesn't seem to be a virus or malware. I'm wondering if it's specific to the site that I'm trying to navigate to, like an ad on Drudge is taking a long time to load. Is there's any way I can stop it? Computer gurus...please chime in. |

Just tried it again.
The browser (firefox, in this instance) seems to be taking a long time to load my home page. When I go to Drudge, I can see in the lower left all the subsites it's loading...h&rblock, homedepot, ect. I'm assuming part of the lag is relating to the host website. Not sure why my browser is so slow. BTW-Running Zonealarm |

Is your ISP (or some software) using DNS blacklisting to block advertisers? It would be unusual for an ISP to do so, but many businesses will add common advertisers to DNS and point it at a non-existent IP. This will prevent advertisements from loading, but your browser may act sluggish since it has to "time out" every time it attempts to reach the domain. |
