[ARCHIVED THREAD] - First Riddick sequel picture (Page 1 of 3)
|
Not sure on release date but its going to be rated R unlike Chronicles which was PG13. So far the plot is Riddick getting dumped off on a planet where he must fight for survival against aliens and bounty hunters. I guess the Necromongers didn't take to kindly to "King Riddick" It would be real cool if its the planet from Pitch Black. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: When does it come out? I liked the first one. His character was in 2 movies. Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. Really? I have never seen Pitch Black. Is it before Chronicles of Riddick? Yes , and leads into CoR . . . . explains the origins of the characters . Pitch Black is an excellent SciFi - Monster movie |

It's a much different movie from Chronicles of Riddick, though. It's more of a visually spare horror movie. I liked it a lot, but wasn't too thrilled with Chronicles of Riddick. |

Yes, and Pitch Black has believable "aliens" too; IOW their behavior is based on a logical premise for their environment. |

It could be awful, but it could be awesome. Fingers crossed. +1 Quoted:
I tried watching Pitch Black, and after 20 minutes, I couldn't take it anymore and turned it off. I really liked in when it came out but it wasn't as good when I watched it recently. I don't know what happened. |

Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick are both surprisingly good movies.... People don't care or know about them because they weren't backed up by massive Hollywood promotion campaigns...and because they're not a typical Disney/Michael Bay-esque sci-fi action film. The average moviegoer was confused by the unexplained backstory of the characters and society presented, as well as the atypical plot of CoR. I think Pitch Black is more popular simply because it falls in line closer to most traditional sci-fi monster films, whereas CoR isn't really a remake of anything that's come before it. Certain elements, such as the bounty hunters, might be recognizable from films and anime, but the Necromongers succeeded in being unlike any pre-existing depiction of aliens that Hollywood has ever attempted. |

I think the movies are weird, but I love Vin Diesel's passion for them.
Hope he makes a killing on this one. ETA: I agree with Wes, Chronicles wasn't disliked because it was bad, but because it was different. It's like only 80% of the story and background made it to the screen, like Vin Diesel has this complicated world entirely in his head and Chronicles is a small window into it. I can see why some people dislike it, but I for one was drawn in and kept looking around trying to see even more of what was in there. Diesel's definitely not an idiot, and he's got a top flight imagination. He also worked hard on the spinoff game to make it one of the most highly regarded movie spinoff titles ever produced, right up there with Goldeneye. The early reviewers who sat down to play it were expecting a typical piece of shit but were amazed. |

He's into dungeons and dragons and all that stuff, so I'm not surprised.

His career must really be in the tank for him to take that role. Actually, I believe Vin Diesel really wanted to make a third movie, and the rumor is that he bought the rights to it just so he could make it. |

The Riddick video game was really good too. It was a Xbox game, but it was remade for 360 and PS3 and included with its sequel. There are actually two games: "Escape from Butcher Bay", and "Assault on Dark Athena." Butcher Bay is included with Dark Athena. I never played Dark Athena, so I can't say if its good or not, but I remember almost buying it since it included the HD version of Butcher Bay. |

Quoted: He's soooo hot I mean... He's a badass actor and bald and not hot and fugly and not hot. Real fugly... with his smooth head, bulging muscles, perfect tan, handsome features... Badass, eh? Mark Vincent's first movie was about how hard it is to get an acting job as a notwhite. |
