I was watching the State of the Union tonight, and had to shut it off after the first 10 minutes.
Obama said "the Iraq war is over, and the US and the world are now a safer place." everyone stood and cheered. but wait, everyone says that the war in Iraq was unjust, and we were not threatened by them? so how can he say that and how can everyone cheer then? |

The logic is that the war was making us less safe than we were before we attacked Iraq. |

If you believe the presence of US forces in Iraq made the world less stable.
It is inherently logical to believe the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq has made the world more stable. Whether this is true or not is an issue for debate, but Obama's reasoning is rational. Now, you connection between people who were against the war, and suggesting they should not be happy it is over... that's one that is harder for me to understand. In before someone calls me an Obama lover. |
