0730 saw the start of the setup for Bullet Fest III this morning. Here's the sign marking the entrance to the Mapleton Gun Club. Campy showing up with the first load of targets. Who else besides me thinks that his truck should also be donated as a target? Marking the firing line. Damn Campy is a perfectionist ... "Is it straight? It has to be straight!" Invasion of the plastic milk jugs. Getting our sunshades set up. We learned from experience - no more baking in the sun this year!

It's only Friday and Campy is already trying to get in his 15 minutes of fame with the camera crew. After setting some targets up, I had to make sure that they would react properly to bullets ... uhhh, yeah, that's it ... Attack of the killer washing machines. Fear not, the Portapotties have arrived and are ready to serve your needs. I think we're ready to start shooting now.

Packing up my Mustang right now. Ready to leave around 1am tonight for a 8-9am arrival. [:D] Bringing my own sun shade which I'll setup off the firing line so I can sit and watch all day long. I'll shoot a little, bringing my M16 and a Garand. I'll leave the supressors at home. Be there soon.

Bricklayer - if you are coming from the North and heading South, the sign will be on your left on Route 44 and you turn right to get onto the road leading to the club. It can be easy to miss though as it comes up around a turn/hill .

'twas the night before bulletfest, and all thru the range, machineguns were stirring, and gunners acting quite strange! the targets were placed, on the berm with great care, in hopes that chief thunder soon would be there! i, in my steel codpiece and waldo in his vest, pried open spam cans of yugoslavia's best! the gunners were squaded, in tents and motels. and chuck stood on guard, hey? what the hell! my ears were all plugged, my muffs worn on top. all the better to not hear well armed canton cops! i thought i had it down! surely THIS must be fun! when what should appear? but a g.e. minigun! it was manned by a gent, all covered in soot. i knew right away that he had the loot! he loaded long belts, and stacked boxes of ammo. i knew he was serious, by his perma-pressed camo. he let loose a burst, goosed the gun three more times, the muzzle shook and belched fire, and he deafened the whole line! he hopped on his mule, and closed loading doors fast. and stepped on the gas saying, y'all kiss my ass! he talked to his machineguns, and called them by name! on vickers, on lewis, on maxim and pig! on browning, on ma duce, on kalash and tommy! on heckler and koch, on stoner and vollmer! now, blast away, blaze away! fire away all! happy freakin' bulletfest to all... ...and to all, a safe shoot!

I was planning to go, but feared the portapotties were being used as targets. Until the portapotties are placed in a "gun free" zone, I refuse to go...

Let's see: 1. You were off hauling another load of targets 2. There were a bunch of virgin targets sitting there 3. No one else around (except Plateshooter) 4. I just happened to have an SKS with some ammo in the trunk Tell me you wouldn't have done the same? Besides, I wanted something to shoot at before the machine-gunners cut everything to shreds! [:D] OK - gotta finish packing now...

LOL I think they would make a great target. Unless explosive targets aren't allowed?

Just got back from Bulletfest, one word, awesome. The is the best show this side of Knob Creek. The Minigun was the star of the day.

Knob Creek of the north...handfull of 50's, MG-42's, 1919's in various form, 08-15?, M-16's, M-60's, mortar w/ suop cans full of concrete. Met a few AR-15 people, shook Ed Sr's hand. Ran into few people from the Richmond-IN subgun shoot last month. Who was the folks with the Jeep w/M-60 and the 2 blonde chicks?
