Just got through installing a new hard drive on my system and fighting with the damn internet connection/driver
issues for about a week and am glad to say everything is running great. Now to download all the software and "My documents/pictures" files from my last back up. Should be a fun night.... I have been running macafee virus protection but my subscription is up in 2 months and I am not particularly happy with it. I tried searching but am not finding the threads I've read on here about installing protection for my system. I've had the misfortune of getting 2 viruses on my system )from my daughter I think) including the Kill AQ virus that caused a full reformatt in the past. If you had to install free VP what would you recommend? I think I've read about malware bytes and AVG or something like it in the past on here, so what say the hive?? |

This and if want to to buy something run the registered version of malwarebytes with it. Otherwise, download the free version and run scans once a week or so. |

yep , its pretty good , use it on 100 machines or so and I have had about 90% reduction in infections over symantec/norton and macafee junk that was on them before. |

I have two windows 7 machines running avast (free) and one running mse (daughters).
I still have one xp desktop running avast too but it don't get used much cause it is still running a socket a processor.
If either of the avast machines give me any trouble I will be switching them to mse too. |
