The New York Post reports that the Bloomberg administration, as part of its nanny city-state agenda, wants to make it harder for New Yorkers to get a drink. The city's Health Department is requesting proposals for initiatives aimed at "reducing alcohol retail outlet (e.g. bar, corner store) density and illegal alcohol." The projects would be funded partly by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which allocates grant money for community "transformation." The department declined to specify what the anti-alcohol initiatives might include, but it said the effort is "in line with our ongoing strategies of promoting healthy eating and physical activity and discouraging tobacco, excessive alcohol use and consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages." http://reason.com/blog/2012/01/11/nanny-bloomberg-targets-alcohol Nanny McBloomberg strikes again. - TS |

I applaud this measure. We can't have alcohol falling into the hands of children, and besides, its bad for you. Think of all of the health costs associated with it. I don't want to pay for the healthcare of drunks, so we should just ban it. Maybe a Constitutional Amendment? |
|
Course, since it is funded by the healthcare act, we ARE paying for the health of drunks, by trying to keep them away from their drunk. Way to go, Bloomberg, dip into funding we really don't have because the only thing wrong with prohibition is that it stopped rich people from getting a legal drink.
To think, I once got a call from a survey asking me about the idea of Bloomberg running for president as an Independent. Too left for the Democrats, maybe? |

Wow, the little dictator strikes again.
New Yorkers must love to be told what to do in life I guess. Bloomberg can take their guns, alcohol, fatty foods, sugar....what's next? Require every NYC Resident to show-up in Central Park in matching track suits to do city exercises each morning with Bloomberg on a loud speaker? Will Bloomberg send NYC officials into your bedroom to make sure you're only doing missionary sex with your wife? |

When my grandpa's doctor told him to cut down to 1 glass of wine a day, he went out and bought bigger wine glasses. Fuck Bloomberg, life finds a way. I changed my wine glass to one that's green and is necked down at the top. Oddly, it comes free with the wine. |

I can't fathom how stupid a Bloomberg voter is. The guy isn't neither a liberal or a conservative. He's just a full blown tyrant. He'll switch sides on issues, switch entire parties, leave parties altogether, suspend term limits, or do anything else if that's what it takes to gain a greater stranglehold on his personal little kingdom. He is out of nobody but himself and literally thinks he controls or should control every aspect of everyone's lives. Not a day goes by when our local news doesn't report Bloomberg pushing for more legislation, or even just weighing in on some random issue. He meddles and interferes in everything. He has to control everything, everywhere. He has to control and monitor gun shops in other states, he has to give his input on every fucking issue from tolls in NJ to Lady Gaga, to celebrity marriages. I truly believe that the only thing keeping him from enacting 1984 and appointing himself Dear Leader of the Former United States is the fact that he cannot get away with it. It must eat him up that he can't do it. |
