Got Skyrim for Christmas. It was kind of a family gift... I don't think we've watch more than a few quarters of football since Christmas Day. It's Skyrim, Skyrim and more Skyrim. I think that my wife (works part time) is furthest along, then my 12YO daughter, then me. They just have more free time than I do. We sit around and watch each other play. ![]() I love the ability to switch between first person and third person. I really love the open story. I can see playing this game three or four times, with different characters and completely different approaches to the game. Anyone else completely hooked on this game? Without posting any big spoilers, any tips/tricks for a relative noob? |

Quoted: i used to play skyrim like you, then i took an arrow in the knee. Well played. I also find the game fascinating and incredibly well done. I think I like Fallout 3/New Vegas more, but that's just a personal preference. It took quite a while playing Skyrim to realize that your weapons and armor don't diminish and require repair with use. |

I'm really glad they took that bit out. some things they put into games just turn into chores. there's really not chore type items in skyrim. you don't HAVE to do anything. |

It works in 3/NV, but that they took out some of the "chores" in Skyrim makes me feel a lot more free to focus on the other non-granular elements of the game, like it's just beautiful graphics, and a lot of the little stuff you don't notice unless you take time to do so. |

Skyrim is my favorite game at the time being. I just hit level 30. I am now the leader of the Companions and the College of Winterhold. I just bought my Frost Atranoch spell. I can kill a giant with five dual casted firebolts. I haven't ran into anything that can get past me and my Frost Atranoch.
EDIT: If you are playing Skyrim and want to be a melee rape machine I highly suggest doing the Companion quests and turning yourself into a werewolf. In Werewolf form you are EXTREMELY strong. You can back hand people across the room. I really like it when you are beating someone to death as a werewolf and they give up and say something like "Ok, I give up", but you take it that extra step, pick them up by their head, stare at them in the eyes and smash their head, which makes their brain pop out and fly across the room. Or when they lay down and give up and you get on top of them and start tearing limbs off and throwing them across the room. Being a werewolf is one of the best things in the game. I got stopped by a group of 5 bandits, while I was in werewolf form. They were trying to get me to pay a toll to cross a bridge. I refused their toll and they attacked me. Bad idea. Two of them died a horrible death after they were back handed off of the bridge, I popped ones brain and ripped the other two limb from limb. Took about 30 seconds to take out 5 bandits. They were all level 25 bandits too. Got some nice loot off of them including some glass armor and weapons. |

Quoted: I bought myself a crack box for Christmas and FO New Vegas and it's addictive as fuck. I've been told Skyrim is even worse..great. Yeah, I can see us all playing this thing through more than once. Thankfully it'll be rainy and generally bad weather here for another 6 months. ![]() |

Go to whiterun and have a drink with the guy at the bar 52 hrs so far, lvl 32 that quest is random and can be found at many of the inns through the game. the character you meet's name is sam guiverne or something like that. that was my favorite quest of the game so far - and the staff, the sanguine rose is awesome. lvl 39, 80 hours in now. high elf specializing in destruction/conjuration. |

There are so many random & miscellaneous quests you can get bogged down with them fast if you're not careful. I hit level 16 last night, playing an Argonian and (like you) specializing in destructive magic (just starting to get into conjuration). I made it to the College at Winterhold and am working my way through the associated tasks. I'm hoping to be practically weapon-free before long. |

I enchanted an Ebony Bow that now does fire damage and fills a soul gem if the target dies within 5 seconds, that's pretty handy. I named it the Ebony Bow of Burninating. Also, have a mace that i use a lot that i got from a quest recently. Enchanting stuff is a lot of fun, i've made some neat stuff. |

| Played Skyrim for three hours last night while drinking Mead I bottled last spring. High Elf destruction magic and conjuration with a minor in archery. Dark Brotherhood quests are some fun shit, especially half drunk on Mead. I am level 21 and have killed all known mammoths and giants. I fuckin hate giants. |

Why the hate? |
