if you break up?

Who broke up?

Him or her?

Edit.  Wait - are we talking wedding ring after marriage, or engagement ring before marriage?

You keep each others.

Depends on the state. The result varies.

Men will tell you it's who broke it off, and that they should return it if it was them.

Women will tell you that it's hers.

I did not get it back when I divorced.  I'm sure it went to the pawn shop, or possibly back to where we had bought it, since they'll let you 'upgrade' for the price difference.

ETA: I do not mean to imply that this is always true (it is not) but in my experience, this is the general response you get.

If I'm following your question correctly you're engaged but not married (break up as opposed do the big D).  You keep the wedding ring as you didn't give it to her yet.

Next question.

By "break up" I assume not married.

Did you give it to her already?  If yes, then you lost it.  No different than any other gift you give to your girlfriend in return for sex.

If I get divorced(not planning to btw) my wife will keep the ring or sell if she wants to.I gave it to her, I didn't loan it to her.

Yep. In Texas if a woman calls off the wedding, she has to give back the ring.  Actually a ARFCOMMER who is an asst prosecutor recently told me that. I guess that is from previous case law.

Wedding rings are kept by the wearer. Engagement ring is returned upon the breaking of the engagement as it is a unfulfilled promise to be married.

I played with more than one set of boobies that was paid for with the sale of a wedding ring from a previous marriage.

It seems to be pretty common for some women to get the surgery paid for in that way.

My ex sold the one I gave her. I asked for it back and she told me it was a gift and she refused...............then she got screwed when she sold it. So, it was true in my case

That's the way I understand it.  A couple months after I got divorced, I drove down to Galveston beach.  I walked down to the water's edge.  I taped my wedding ring to a rock and then flung it as hard as I could into the Gulf of Mexico.  I've never looked back.  FWIW

So you're the reason that old people comb the beach with metal detectors?

You should've thrown it in the crack of doom where it was made.

On this one, possession really is 9/10s of the law.
