if you break up?

Men will tell you it's who broke it off, and that they should return it if it was them.
Women will tell you that it's hers. I did not get it back when I divorced. I'm sure it went to the pawn shop, or possibly back to where we had bought it, since they'll let you 'upgrade' for the price difference.
ETA: I do not mean to imply that this is always true (it is not) but in my experience, this is the general response you get. |

My ex sold the one I gave her. I asked for it back and she told me it was a gift and she refused...............then she got screwed when she sold it. So, it was true in my case

Quoted:
Wedding rings are kept by the wearer. Engagement ring is returned upon the breaking of the engagement as it is a unfulfilled promise to be married. That's the way I understand it. A couple months after I got divorced, I drove down to Galveston beach. I walked down to the water's edge. I taped my wedding ring to a rock and then flung it as hard as I could into the Gulf of Mexico. I've never looked back. FWIW |
