Picked up a Ruger LCR in .38+p with Crimson trace grips for $450 NIB, how did I do? About time I stumbled onto a deal like this!

As per my usual:

Take it to a skilled gunsmith; have him grind off the front sight and install a lanyard loop on the butt.

The absence of the sight will minimize damage to your colon when your assailant sticks this useless gun up your ass.

The lanyard loop, with an appropriate-length lanyard, will assist the proctologist in the gun's removal.

What? Sounds like a decent CCW gun to me. I mean there's much worse platforms. Good score OP.

LOL

But, can you explain what is wrong with this gun?

With the CT grips, that's not a bad deal, not bad at all.

Just practice, carry the Speer Gold Dot +P for short barrels, and you're good to go.

Curious as to why you think this is a bad choice?

<insert gernade joke here>

Perhaps OP intends this as a backup or pocket gun?

Probaly the Crimson Trace grips. I find that with practice a couple times a month I can get off several rounds on target just by pointing and firing.

They do help you find out quick about bad trigger control with the light bouncing all over the place.

Some here would have 3 shot off by the time you found your red dot.

I watched a guy shoot a small indoor match with CT grips, and it looked like a concert; there were laser beams and dots going every where.

He was a good shot, but I can't help but think he would have been faster had he been using normal sights.
The dot REALLY shows how shaky your hand is, it has to be distracting.
