C'mon now, doesn't everyone have one of these sometime between Thanksgiving and New Years?

Here, I'll start....

Fuel pump went out in the F150 today and the shop just called with the estimate to get it fixed.  $900...ouch.

Last year the microwave literally blew up on Thanksgiving.

Post yours and let me know I'm not alone.

Just got back from seeing the "moms".....my mom is 87, sharp but frail and getting mean as hell. Wifes mom is like 77 and has a running start at Alzheimer's. Heard her tell the same story 5 times in under 5 hours not always the same, she and wife spent 45 minutes trying to find a rolling pin, the old girl will be batty as hell in a year at the rate she's going.

Gonna go to Shreveport for Christmas with my Niece and her husband and kids, run around the airbase with the major and drink some serious beer and wine.

Oh...the dishwasher shot craps last week and the new $600 dishwasher is installed and runs like a champ but the furnace in my farm shop won't kick on and the LP gas people have not showed up with my damn LP

The civilians that mow on post cracked my windshield. Due to the MP's screwing up and losing the report and m company being in the field, the civilians aren't mowing and I can't find their company info. So now I get to buy a new windshield. Plus my back window in my truck is leaking so I get to replace that too. There goes a few gifts.

Last holiday disasters that I recall: First was when I still ran fire calls. An elderly woman died in a house fire on Thanksgiving morning.

Second one was when my father dropped dead the day of the family Christmas party.

Cut the shit out of my upper lip shaving on Thanksiving morning a few years ago.

Had to sit there during Thanksgiving dinner with all the relatives with a wad of toilet paper stuck to my face to keep it from bleeding.

Too minor to be called a "disaster" - more in the PITA category I suppose - but kinda funny looking back on it.

I always shave extra carefully now on holiday mornings.

Four bulbs went out in my Christmas tree this year.
That's about the worst I've experienced in many years.
Hope things look up for you OP.

Step fathers cancer returned, he has to have surgery on the 21st of this month. So this holiday season is going to be interesting to say the least.

Ok, you win... Sorry.

Mine pales in comparison.
1. Slow at work for the past few months, bank account getting painfully thin. Company a couple weeks late in paying me.
2. Speeding ticket $450
3. Dryer just started making a lound squawling noise (seemingly fixed for now).
4. Have done ZERO shopping yet (see short on money).

Work has picked up, should be getting a check this week, lawyer got ticket pushed until after the new year. Shit is looking up.

My parents seemed to always have a major appliance or home repair right around Christmas time while I was growing up. One year, the hot water heater shit the bed. Another year, we noticed a puddle growing in the driveway, and discovered that the water line from the main to the house had cracked, cost my parents like 3000 to have it dug up and replaced.

My wife and I are hoping to get through the end of the year without a major disaster, wife is 6 1/4 months pregnant and we both got an extra 2-weeks pay at work  this month, so we are comfortable on present money. A portion of a string of LED lights on my house are not working, haven't had a chance to get up and fix the bulbs. Hope that is the worst we have to deal with this season. Only have four days of work left before Christmas, boss is off all week, presents are mostly bought and wrapped, hoping for a little peace on earth, even if only until 1/1/12.

My 93 year old  father-inlaw passed away on 12-15-11 and the funeral is in a few hours. My wife is crushed. The worst thing is that it really hasn't set in yet and her siblings are already arguing over the estate. Christmas is going to suck for her this year.

Dad died in 2001 round this time.  This year I have a $1400 oil leak repair on my VW.

I'm the Angel of Fucking Death this holiday season.  Had to tell three families their loved one was dead.  Three ER shifts, three DOAs.  Working tomorrow - hope for better news.

ETA: Put Santa Claus in the hospital tonight.  (local gentleman who plays Santa at malls and such)

My grandfather, great grandfather, great grandmother, a great uncle as a baby, and two great aunts have all died around Christmas (though obviously not the same year).

I guess if I were going to die, during the Holiday Season wouldn't be a bad time to go.
