Engine has a computer controlled 2 stage oil pump. Goal is friction reduction throughout the engine. |

I remember some real beauties coming out of GM, especially their four cylinders. I suppose I'd roll the dice on one as long as it was under factory warranty. There will be some real horror stories about it once it gets a few years on it's belt. Cadillac is building some really cool stuff right now. They've come a long way from the low water mark of the 1980's Seville and whatever they called the Chevy Cavalier with the chrome kit. |

My girlfriend in high school had one of those. What the heck were those things called? Eta: Cimmaron Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Is it just a modified Ecotec? I'm wondering this as well. I'm betting it is. The specs are almost the same as the 2.0L Turbo Charged Direct Injection Ecotec that is in the Pontiac Solstice GXP (rated at 260HP). I bet they tweaked it a little and got themselves a few more HP.... |

I have nothing against Ecotecs, planned on getting one for my 2nd j-body, and would love to grab a Holden V6 Ecotec from down here for my other j-body back home. |

So how many other factory production 2 liter engines put out those kind of numbers? Just curious. |

When you don't have to pay off 50% of your costs, you can design shit like this for the mass market. BMW has built a 1.4 liter, 4 cyl engine that exceeded the 1400 hp mark on the dyno. It's not lack of ability that prevents a car company from making a 300 hp 4 cyl engine. TXL |

Probably as many as other factories that received a total bailout from their chief union organizer. Again, most of what the car makers can do is extremely regulated by the ,gov. Guess who owns GM????? Yeah, just like the owners of the company new the VOLT would catch fire, and did nothing. When some morons could not keep their feet on the break of their Toyota, the same owner of that company went nuts. It seems that if you are owned by the .gov, you too can pretend to be a forward looking company with no need to be concerned with costs like pensions and such, or safety factors, because the people who you would complain to are the COMPANY OWNERS. Mitsubishi Evo and Japanse spec WRX STi have made over 270 hp from 2.0 liter engines for a while now. |
