anybody ever heard of these guys before http://www.predatorcustomshop.com/htm/base_package.htm?

one of my brother in laws is a LEO looking for a carbine and somebody offered him a trade on a glock plus $400 for their PREDATOR BASE PCS-15.

I know spikes has the LE carbine and i know that would be a good rifle just never heard of this predator shop stuff.

All the meat eaters insist on barrels that can't stabilize heavy bullets.

Predator custom shop is an excellent group of folks.  I've had dealings with their smith off and on over the years and would recommend them to anyone.  Their match rifles and smithing stand out.

But in all honesty, I don't think the PC carbine would make a good duty rifle.  HBAR profile and non chrome lined.

I think he would be happier with the Spike's.

I can't speak for their ARs, I've never owned or shot one.

I can personally vouch for Jim Ruiz, the business owner and his ethics as a business man. I can also attest wholeheartedly to the quality of their smith, Bob Howard's work.

Bob builds 1st class 1911s and precision rifles. I would put his pistol smithing skills against anyone's and his rifles just placed 1st and 4th at the Allegheny Sniper Challenge with a first time ever first shot, cold bore hit at 1 mile in the competition.

I don't go to bat for people easily, but these guys are top notch.

That's going to depend more on how much he wrings it out for it to prove itself, but I think the Predator rifle just isn't set up very well for his application.  A chrome lined chamber just makes sense if you NEED a rifle to be perfect every time.  (please don't mistake this for chrome lining zealotry, but it can have a huge effect on a rifle that rides in a dirty trunk most of its life only to be pulled out and expected to fire and extract.

not at all i am glad you brought up the barrel being non chrome, i had not thought of that angle since it will be his duty rifle it will be getting pretty beat up and nasty i reckon.

Tell your Brother in law to contact them himself. They have great LEO pricing and will build whatever he needs or wants.

And my patrol ifle is a Predator rifle, I love it.
