Lets see how good you are. I have three computers with Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed on them with the same disk and within 12 hours of each other. All settings are the same.

A Office PC  - Can Read and write to the shared resources of B and C

B Labtop - Can read and write to  the shared resources of A and C

C HTPC - Can read and write to B but for A it can see shared resources but can't access anything but the root directory of the shared drive on A. If a file is in the root directory of A I can use it, but if I try to open a folder I get a "don't have permission" error. If I share some of the folders also, I can see them but if I try to open them I get the "don't have permission" error.

There is no passwords and a whole drive letter or two is shared on each machine. Since B can access A properly, I would assume that A's sharing  has to be set right. What is my problem?

Edit -

Same workgroup, three different user names. Everything shared on A works fine from B so it has to be shared right.

On all three, "Everyone" has read, write and full control. No homegroup.

I make the user names on all three the same but no change.

I got out my Nook Andriod tablet though, and it is doing the same as C. I can read and write to B and C, but when I try to use the shares on A, it does the same thing C does accessing A. B still has full access to A.

All settings are not the same other wise it would all work.

I would check both the sharing and security permission on computer A for the folder in question. Are they all on the same homegroup? Are you using the same username?

Have you tried the everyone group?

You can also create a "homegroup" within win7.

Yeah, turn off homegroups.

Bump for more ideas.

Are they all three using usernames spelled the same?

For shares there are two permissions that need to be set: the permission for the share, and the permission for the folders on the machine hosting the share.  You have to have permissions on both in order to access files.

Can you give us screen shots of your local users/groups, and the individual security and share permissions from the folders you are trying to share?

ETA: Have you thought about just having one share on one machine and having all of them access that?

Just rename your porn directory before you do.

Did you go into the network sharing area and turn on all the network options and then remove the "require password" on shares box? That will basically allow the everyone group to work and in turn not have to setup the same user accounts across all three.

Yep, under advanced sharing options, turn on "Public Folder Sharing" and turn off "Password Protected Sharing" .

I had to do this to ensure all of my boxes could talk to my Win 7 HTPC shares.
