Do you use the GIFT option to save 3%?

No, already skirting the rules.

I would never send money as a gift that was for a product. If paypal is the only option listed I will gladly pay +3% to keep my ability to get the money back if the deal goes south.

There was a big discussion on this Monday. Yes, F them, they are anti-gun. I refuse to use them for a gun though, MO only.

Even if it's a trusted seller?

nope. Like I said if needed I will pay the extra 3%. In fact I would rather go out of my way and get a USPS money order.

EDIT> I assume this is for a Gun related purchase.

IMO anything a few hundred dollars or more is suspicious.  I mean, who gives that kind of gift to someone?

ETA:  Paypal is kinda stupid for not capping the limit on "gift" mode.

It's rumored on Ebay's Seller Central that PayPal is going to re-vamp their gift option next year.

I would not be surprised to see them allow "gifts" only to .org addresses and those with donation accounts set-up in advance. I'd not blame them either.

They are getting hosed from a business standpoint. I don't think it has as much to do with folks paying for prohibited items as it does with the bottom-line. Let's face it they lose $$$ no matter if "gift" money is sent to pay for a prohibited or non-prohibited item.
