Replace the issue of "height", insert "race" and it sounds......famaliar.

She may extend her legs but if she stops at being proportionate to her torso she will still be abnormally short.

distraction osteogenesis

No serial breaks, just incremental stretching of the callous that forms in a fracture gap.

So essentially one surgical osteotomy, and then gradual stretching until done, then some time to stabilize and heal.

cool stuff, and predictable.

Haven't done it myself, but I understood it to be a cut across the bone, then increase the distance between the cuts 1mm/day buy turning the external fixator (that cage thingy) distraction screws the appropriate amount.
