I'm trying to output my computer to my new flatscreen tv through an HDMI cable. I want to basically have the same image on my normal monitor and my tv. The normal monitor is connected using VGA. I plugged the HDMI in and nothing happened. I know how to normally extend a monitor using a VGA splitter so it's not just a matter of going to personalize>display settings>etc. My computer doesn't even recognize that I plugged the HDMI in. I even turned the computer off, unplugged the VGA, and left the HDMI in with the TV on the correct input. Nothing happened. It is like the computer doesn't even recognize the HDMI. What am I doing wrong? Specs: Windows Vista Asus desktop available video outputs=VGA, HDMI, DVI Display adapters= Intel(R) G45/G43 express chipset. Thanks for any help!

I'm using windows 7 with nvidia display adapters, but this might work.
Go to control panel, show all control panel items. open Display Change Display settings. Is there an option for "Detect" or "Identify"? In my case, I use the nvidia control panel settings, but you may have something under Intel in control panel for your graphics. |
