I want to teach my sons how to shoot. So I am looking for a lesson plan, basic book / pamphlet on rules of firearm handling, anything like that.
I would prefer to have some sort of format to follow to make sure everything important is covered rather than simply wing it. I checked the NRA website, but was very shocked and disappointed to find nothing there. ETA: I would prefer something in PDF that I can just print out. |
| Find an NRA Instructor in your area and have them teach your kids for you. Not only do they have access to NRA training publications that non-certified personnel can't purchase, they don't have an emotional attachment to your children, which can sometimes hinder teaching. (Trust me on that. I am an NRA certified pistol instructor, but when I went to teach my son to shoot, it was difficult for me to get through to him.) Kids will often ignore their parents much more readily than they will a new person who is known only to them as an authority figure and subject matter expert at the subject at hand. |
