Whether you just got cut off 9 times, burnt the turkey, or can't find the doo-dad your kid wants. Let it all out guys. You'll feel better . . and maybe even live longer.

Happy Holidays

General rules apply.

I will be trapped in a football-less,estrogen,libtard filled hell whole from 1-4 on Thursday(going to my M.I.L's) plus I will be the only male above the age of 3 there.THe only bright spot is that my needy,over-educated,under-employed S.I.L will not be attending...She is at the OWS protest in NY.
Yeah these 3 Hours on Thursday are going to suck.
This rant will help a little.Going to BlueTrails on Friday/Saturday should alleviate the rest of the frustration and anxiety that I get when dealing with my wife's family for more than 2hrs.

I suspect this will head over to GD eventually.  There are some good opportunities around this time of year, not just in terms of Black Friday deals but also in taking a few second (or hours or days) to decompress, spend time with your family and friends and appreciate what we "prep" to preserve.  I didn't kill my own turkey but we did grow our own potatoes and I'm making my own bread (next year's project: afford a good quality mill to grind the wheat, too).  The kids (3 and 6) will be doing chores, learning how to prepare food instead of have it magically appear, helping plan next year's garden based on what they liked for dinner and then choosing what "from scratch" project they want to work on (from the 1910-ish Boy Scout "handy book" - no TV needed).  Saturday night, we're having dinner at another "prep family" locale, looking over a new mill (metal, not grain), talking about guns and carry options with the wife who recently got her CCW, planning communication strategy and generally cementing friendships.

This time of year is also a good time to share some food with the neighbors, check in on the elderly folks, generally get recognized as part of your local community.  Sure won't guarantee that you'll be heard if SHTF but you'll at least be a known factor and might have some good will built up to lend credence to your "suggestions" in an emergency situation.  Unless, of course, you think you're a lone wolf, in which case you'll gain useful intel on who to avoid and/or who might be the biggest threat to your own prep strategy.

I just want the food. Give me some meat, stuffing, potatoes and STFU about pilgrims, thankfulness, family and togetherness.
And pie...gimme some of the pie too. And then leave me alone.

"Let it all out guys. You'll feel better . . and maybe even live longer."

I know that idea has been popular since the hippy 60s, but they've been saying lately that "letting it all hang out" and "venting" and all that other "feel-good" stuff doesn't really help you feel better, live longer, or anything else(other than let everybody around you know you're pissed).

Not a rant really, just my sitrep.  I'll be working.  I hope it'll be a slow day cause I'm planning on doing the deep fried turkey at work.
My eldest son is in "basic" at Fort Jackson SC.  His wife (my DIL) is about 34 weeks along with my second grandson and started having contractions 2 days ago.
She got to the hospital and got them stopped, and got put on complete bed rest until?    I think she's "gonna go" before he gets back.  So I've been elected as the stand in,  in the delivery room.
I'm also babysitting my (almost) 3yo grandson (on my off days) while my mother stays with her.  It's fine when I can take him outside but this cold and rain for the last couple of days is keeping us kinda couped up inside.
Cartoons, books and pretend games oh my.

Wife's side of the family is kinda tied up elsewhere, and she has to work the weekend, so I think she is gonna come to (the service) and keep an eye on the turkey in case we have to make a run in the middle of cooking it.
Youngest son is in (lives in) north central Indiana (near his mom) so he won't be around.
But other than the near term pregnancy with the DIL everybody is relatively healthy.

This time of year is always brings kind of mixed emotions.
My grandfather (who basically raised me) died the Sunday after  Thanksgiving 33 years ago.
Who I am, is by and large, due to the 18 years I had with him.
It's really kinda weird because I realize that I am almost the same age now (with my grandson) as he was with me.
Wonder what things in this country will be like 50 or so years from now.

A customer called me today and ranted at me for 15 minutes. An asphalt roof I just did had a tree hit it in the storm, she's calling me weeks later, but to tell me everything is fine and theres no damage, but ranting and bitching the whole time nonetheless. After about 15 minutes when I realized there was no purpose for the phone call I politely told her it was dinner time. And then I started this thread hahaha.

I was going to post in the GD but then I wouldn't want to check back on it haha. I like the folks in here and I thought some might enjoy utilizing it.

Personally Im in the same boat as Die_Tryin, but I firmly believe in the coming month someone will throw me off it, if only for a moment.

I will have to deal with the nut jobs who camp outside the store for hours ... just for a dumb sale.

and my 12 hour shift has already been extended to a 12.5 hour shift.

Same here. My wife, daughter, and I are all healthy. I'm employed and we have no "real" issues to complain about. So I'm thankful.

.

I was set to order some tires.  Out of stock.  Called the company and they said 2-3 weeks minimum - 2 months more likely before available again.

Guess what happened today?  Correct.  One of my tires separated plys and got big knots in 2 places.   The others don't look much better but are at least round.  Gots to have decent tires....  Thus, I had to pay more to get different tires than what I wanted.

And it is all Obama's fault.
