Doing an "ask the audience" on an argument from another thread:

I say food + gun are MINIMUM requirements, anything more leads to a higher score.

IBTP?

Requirements - food and a gun

Taken into consideration -

Cooked it yourself

Killed and cooked it yourself (auto 10/10)

Handgun plus reload

Longgun plus reload

Drink, preferably alcoholic

Knife

Napkin

Deductions given for microwave meal, takeout, measuring device, poor photography.

dinner you would think is considered impressive,

long gun and reloads,

handgun and reloads,

regular utensils,

tactical knife,

alcohol,

napkin,

tape measure/ruler is optional the rest are not.

Lets be clear the arguement is between the op and i. It is my understanding that to qualify as a legitimate dinner pic the food must be prepared by the op. By prepared, i mean killed, cooked from scratch, or even just heated up and placed on a paper plate. The op claims fast food in its styrofoam container qualifies as a dinner pic.

You're forgetting the stapler.

If you don't drink alcohol, your beverage of choice is fine. It doesn't have to be alcohol.

This is pretty much it, although knife doesn't have to be tactical, and beverage doesn't have to be alcoholic. A nice steak knife will suffice and an iced tea is acceptable.

This is settled ARFcom Law -

Noob:  Hi TRG.  Here is my dinner pic.  A hamburger and my SKS.

TRG:  Fail.

Noob:  All that stapler and ruler and ridiculous nonsense are just that.

TRG:  Noob.  The rules are clear.  The requirements are intense and dismissing the nonsense items defeats the purpose of posting.  It reminds me of kids with fart cans on the Type R Accords that think they know everything.  You don’t.  The dinner pics are a tradition.  Either respect the tradition or shut the fuck up. Clear?

Food and guns equals boring.  We have seen it all.  What you should be trying to accomplish is something unique and interesting while respecting the rules of the game.

Food plus gun are mandatory.  The rest is subjective and that is why they are fun.  You can never win or get it right.

Constructing the perfect dinner pic is supposed to be difficult.  It should be impossible to get right and the list of arcane requirements are meant to be clouded in mystery and mystique.

Noob:  What can I do?

TRG:  Learn by doing.  Do not be afraid.  Create the perfect dish, assemble all the required items.  Frame the shot and present the results to the audience, who will then search for each item, and declare you a failure because you did leave out a required item.
Enjoy it, play by the rules, or get the fuck out.

Noob:  What are the required items in an AR15 dot com dinner pic?

TRG:  One place setting, complete with all necessary eating utensils, beverage, refill of beverage, napkin, weapon to defend your meal, extra mags, and ammo.

The firearm must be loaded with the magazine in the firearm and a reload nearby.  A pistol and rifle are better.  A homeland defense knife.  Food on a porcelain plate.  Plates must match.  A cloth napkin.  A stapler.  A measuring device.  A book.  An adult beverage in a clear glass not decorated with the flintstones or other cartoon characters.  No mountain dew.  No pita pockets or similar frozen garbage from a box.  No tupperware.  No plastic forks or knives.

Artistic and tasteful arrangement of the table is necessary for high scores.

Noob:  Can I get bonus points?

TRG:  Maybe.

Noob:  Enlighten me master.

TRG:  Being that ARFcom is a finicky lot, sometimes you expect a win and are greeted with a fail, and sometimes what should be a massive failure is catapulted to epic status.  There is no rhyme or reason to the interwebz.  The dinner pic fairy may bless you for beeing a noob, or she might body slam you for being one.  Just depends what time of the month it is.

Beverage choice is a tricky matter.  One group of posters likes to see that guns and alcohol are not mixed, while others enjoy commenting on the various merits of the host’s choice of spirits.

Extra points may be awarded for pictures detailing the food preparation.  Also if a female is involved.

Other interesting items in the picture may garner extra points, however a faction will view those as clutter and deduct points, quoting dinner pic equals food and guns.  These things usually help: eat something you killed, cook it over a fire, have bacon in it, on it, or around it.  A1 sauce near a steak is automatic fail.

I will say the knife doesn't have to be "tactical," but it can't be normally stored in the kitchen either. Pocket knife, machete, bayonet, sword; something spectacular.

I must also add that if the meal was cooked by a wife/GF, then her pick must also be posted.

The measuring device is great because it provides a frame of reference for the size of particularly large items, like a giant steak. The stapler is just stupid.

Non-alcoholic beverages are only ok if you're a recovering alcoholic, live with a recovering alcoholic, are on the clock, or have some other extenuating circumstances.

To be clear this is not a Dinner Pic. It was dinner to be sure, but was not accompanied by a firearm.

If you can swing it in a fancy eating establishment placing your firearm next to the meal would count in my eye.  But would in most cases cause some unfortunate issues with the local constabulary.  As such it is not recommended.

This is most certainly not a dinner pic though it is likely once again to be this Thanksgivings "good eats".

Perfect example of a baller ass dinner that, while tasty as fuck, cannot be judged as a dinner pic. Shit, I love the Kracken. And I love chicken sandwiches. Especially chickfila with Polynesian sawse.
