WTF? The friction is what slows you down, heat is a byproduct, you just pinch with your feet, I've melted some boots that have too much plastic in their soles, before.

That's a more challenging design project than you think.

15 meters height * 115kg loaded man weight * 9.81m/sec^2 = 17,000 J energy = 16BTU

That heat has to go somewhere.

Yeah, your boots, can I get 15 grand if I send them a picture of my boots?

Just remove the ability for the heat from friction to penetrate the glove to the hand, simplest solution is to move the friction area away from the hand by use of an extension device.

The challenge lies in quickly attaching and detaching while maintaining safety.  Difficult, but there's a thousand ways to skin the cat in that manner.

Wear two sets of gloves, a liner and a thick outer leather pair, the leather pair comes off as soon as possible, and into a cargo pocket or dump pouch. Is that the kind of extension device you had in mind?

There's already a device out there for this, don't remember the name. Our dog handlers used it. Clamps onto the rope and detaches quickly. Helps slow decent and for the extra weight of the dog.
