Quoted:
It looks strangely civilian... -Fluted -LOOKS like carbine gas on a 16" but could be a bad perspective -Gas block is the regular no sighted variety that amounts to a lopped off A2 similar to what my father's Varminter has but with a bayonet lug. He fluted it with a dremel. |

Quoted: Dunno, but I wonder how the World's Tinniest Sound Suppressor is working out. http://www.optactical.com/m1arshoffmuc.html |

Quoted: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Noveske-Krink-KX3-Flash-Suppressor-with-Pig-p/KX3%20Pig.htm The Pig!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a Krink, it's just a plastic shoot-through cap... they're conducting water operations. It also looks like a Nightforce NXS 1-4x sitting on Badger Ordnance 306-09 or 306-79 rings (one sitting forward of the front handguard locking ring). The forearm looks like a Yankee Hill Machine 9479 carbine-length free-floating handguard and the laser atop it is an early generation DBAL. |

16 rail slots, so it's a carbine length gas system. Cut-down DIY "low profile" FSB. Definitely a 16" barrel.
Interestingly enough, there is nobody that makes a commercial 16", carbine gas, stainless, fluted barrel. All the commercial examples have midlength gas systems. That rifle is a special order, then. I'm going to guess a 4-5 year old Sabre. |

I'm guessing simply because most military rifles with Cr-Mo steel barrels are hammer forged, and fluting a hammer forged barrel is kinda silly because of the need to re-heat treat it for stress relief. Thus, if you have a fluted barrel, it's far more likely that it's stainless. Like I said, I'm just guessing. Maybe I should have guessed "henway?"

Shame MSTN is no longer here, we might get some insight if they still were. I am going with the elusive REECE, with the flutes added later by CRANE. |
