[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Paintball (Page 1 of 3)

Been playing on and off since 1998. I currently have a Empire Axe. Good gun.
edit. Oh yeah and I play mostly woodsball and speedball when no one wants to go play hide and seek! I'm really to lazy to play woods, so I usually do better in a airball field. Hell I bought a set of multicams just for the woods so I can sneak up on people. Good times! I need to dust my old Phantom off just to mess with the $1000+ gun crowd... |

started in 1983, still play, main gun is a mini, but still have my orignal splatmaster and PMI 68mag and i still use those as well

Quoted: Used to play a ton. Owned a store, did a few tournaments. Fun, but after the fact, its just too expensive to keep up. Even with all of my own stuff, its still $15+ per time to play (even with wholesale paint)...And that kinda kills the desire to play. That's no joke, back in the day it was pricey even with the sponsorships. Nowadays it's just depressing seeing the thousands of dollars in gear and guns I spent in highschool, sitting untouched and at a quarter of the price on a good day ![]() Even though it is stupid pricey, I just can't help but get the irresistible urge to pelt mouthy kids every once in a while ![]() |

This.
Once a year or so, I like to just go play walk-on with a stock gun and a few tubes. "Dude, what the fuck are you going to do with only fifty bullets?! You're a fucking idiot. Go on the other team!"

The majority of the pump guys I play with can snap like no one's business. They have the fundamentals down pat, most the new kids coming up seem to just rely purely on how much paint they can sling. They usually aren't too happy when they get in a gunfight with one of the older dudes and end up with a single splat right between their eyes ![]() |

I was inspired by another thread to see who all plays or has played here. It's been several years since I've played seriously but lately I've been trying to get back into the game a little bit more. I'm no scenario super soldier so this is all I got for a gun http://i54.tinypic.com/2h6y53r.jpg I used to have your markers great great grandaddy. That thing would fucking rock.
Back in '01 when I had my vapored bushy.
Same 2001 game
In summer '03 when we played a local county jail when it was been renovated.
Group picture at the jail game.
Teammate jethro with monkeypox as it was called at the jail game
Favorite team of all time

Used to have a bunch of fields around here for sanctioned events, sadly the soccer mommy crowd made the land owner turn them into soccer fields .

Quoted: I used to play a lot of woods and scenario ball, now I'm lucky if I can hit one scenario a year. From the old team website: I love the look of those QLoaders. The company is just right down the street from me and I know the guy who invented the system.....but I still haven't got a chance to use one ![]() |

Started playing in '86 with a Nelson 007. Still have my first Phantom from when Mike Cassidy first came out with them in about '88 or so. When Tom Kaye brought out the Automag, had to get one of those too. Been playing with Mags and Phantoms ever since. Dabbled with Autocockers for a bit but they weren't my cup of tea.
Quit playing tourney ball some years ago, only play weekend and scenario games now. |

Hell, I'd probably still jump on one of those Tequial Sunrise Trixes Good luck on that kind of matrix. I always wanted a engraved Ironman one and had the chance but did not have 2k. I got the chance multiple times to meet Jason Greene and Eric Dearman from the All Americans. A buddy of mine had an original prototype team strange impulse that had no serial number. While I do not have a matrix anymore I still have my old trusty rf 99 autococker with akalmp parts. 2+ cases of paint off one 65/45k tank and was quiet and smooth as hell.I pit a race grip on it one time but took it off because it did not feel right. I wonder how many of the non-electro guns are still out there. Funny story though about the AMG Automag lvl 10 bolt kit when it came out.i I cannot remember which traumahead sportz video it was but it showed Tom kaye sticking his tongue in the bolt and pulling the trigger. (For those of you who have not heard of that , it was something you did not do before that came out) well we had a kid come into a shop I worked at looking for the kit because he wanted to try what Tom did. Well we had a guy that played with us named lowell who had four fingers cut off while at a construction job. He look at the kid and said you don't want it because you will get hurt if you don't get it set up right. The kid asked how many times did it take him and he held up his hand and said "four times". That kid busted out of shop like someone shot at him. |

Got a bit of a late start here, around 93 or so, played recball, woodsball, and a couple of tourneys...reffed more tourneys than played, but our specialty was 24hr scenario games, my team was MVT for 8 years running at wayne dollacks games at hell survivors here in MI and we took MVT at our last game at challenge park near chicago (chosen as MVT by the IL NG) great times with team BIG TROUBLE
Ets still run the spyder I started with, though heavily modified, as well as a black dragun, ION and T98 |

Even with how soft my DM8 is set up to shoot I can imagine that I may still end up being able to gauge my tounge
Video for reference: My XMag will do that. Also, I don't do that with my XMag.
Funny story, I have a "burnt orange" XMag, serial number VV03896 (don't even have to look that up). There are only two in that color in existence. The other one is also owned by an ARFCOMer. Paintball really is a small world. |

I played every weekend in Jacksonville NC when I lived there. Now not so much because the nearest speedball field is 4 hours south of where I live. I have an 08 Ego and a bunch of other less known guns. heres me playing this summer. heres another pic of me with my 2004 AKA Viking. I love this gun. I used to have a couple of them but I sold them. and that 14" dye stainless barrel is the sweetest barrel I own. |

I guess it has been a couple years since I've seen one in use ![]() Like anything else cutting edge and fancy, when it works, it's AMAZING, when it doesn't, it's worse than useless. It's finicky, a pain to load the "mags", you can't borrow or lend paint on the field, and if you break a ball in it you're hosed. When it's working though, it's brilliant. No rattle, you can set it up in several configs to weight the marker how you like it, mag changes are quick and don't waste paint, and it feeds flawlessly. |

Played for 10 years or so. Mostly regional tournys and teams. The last two years played on a few pro teams. Last gun I has was an Eclipse Angle. Still have an STO cocker and mini-mag.
The last year I got to play for Dave Bassman and Felix. The hour 1/2 drive every sat and sun and constant travel wore me down and screwed up my junior and senior years of high school. I liked the free stuff, all RP we could shoot, parts, barrels, masks, everything was pretty much paid for. Remember more than a few tourny games when I had a hurt leg taking and shooting a case or more in a 5 min game. Didn't like making rain too much, over the top was much more fun! |
|
I played when I was a kid (like 12-14), but couldn't get into it much because of my mother... ...my mother was on a team; Team Jericho. They played a lot of tourneys and my mother even won some national speedball tournaments She used to hang posters of Dave Youngblood or some such, in the house and had a T-Shirt that read: One Shot, One Kill w/ a paintballer on it. As odd as it was, I was under my mother's shadow at paintball games and I was embarrassed of it She stopped playing when semis became the norm and I just quit going because I was 14 and wanted to party with girls instead of hang out w/ my mom I still have a super-duper early 90's pump gun w/ a Smart Parts barrel and a bunch of custom work done...I haven't even looked at it in years. Speed |

Played a few times with nice gear borrowed from a friend, but really didn't like the inaccuracy of the marker. Also didn't like the rule that at close range you had to give your opponent the chance to surrender. I figure, I did well enough to get this close so I should have the pleasure of blasting him at close range. Silly rules. |

Quoted: Used to play all of the time but quit when the full auto craze hit, got lame playing games that dumped a case of paint per round, skill went out the window. Loved the old tipman SL-68's I know there is a Tippman SL-68 II floating around in my parent's house somewhere...are they worth anything now? Speed |

Figure about $2,500+ worth of guns, another $200-$300 in accessories, plus 300 rounds of ammo. Shooting real guns isn't cheap either. |
