I played around with it. It can create an encrypted file or encrypt a whole device like a thumbdrive. Seemed to work fine. If you plugged in the encrypted thumbdrive, Windows thought it was unformatted and asked if I wanted to format it. As to whether it actually is as secure as advertised, I couldn't begin to guess, but experts say it is. I read something a while back that someone found a way to trick their way through one of its encryption modes, but I don't recall any details. I think it only applied to encrypted C drives. |

The way I did it: Trucrypt on both my machines (1 each Mac and pc) Encrypt entire USB drive. Set automount devices in truecrypt Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile this is what I do as well (but no mac) I also use the function that lets you hide your encrypted drive. Hard to attack something that you don't know is there. |

Give the file name the same extension as another application that is less commonly used, but likely has large file sizes. A 2GB .gif file is way too obvious, but a 2GB .dat is much less so Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Thanks. I eventually ended up back at the TC site lol. I was just messing around now with creating a partition on the USB drive and it worked. It seems I have to mount both versions (win & OSX), unzipped, on the USB drive to then use on each machine. This would be without installing TC on each machine. Quoted:

The exploit was getting the user to install a pre boot key logger that captured your password as you entered it. Not really a flaw with true crypt. |
