This is a question of which Quarterback should I be playing this week? I got Big Ben as my Starting Quarterback, and the Steelers play the Colts this weekend. For my backup, I got Matthew Stafford as my backup and he has probably the best receiver in the league (Calvin Johnson) and he's been super accurate and hasn't been sacked this year, has TD passes up the wah-zoo already. Plus, the Lions play a real shitty Vikings team. NFL Fantasy is projecting that Stafford will get more points this week than Big Ben. So should I start Ben or Matt this week? |

I drafted Peyton Manning as my starter and Stafford as my backup. So far, Stafford is doing a hell of a Peyton impression on Sundays. I'd start Stafford over Ben all day long. The Colts won't be able to score at all against the Steelers, so Ben won't be passing a lot in the second half.

Wow, both bad QB's. How many teams in your league? I am in a 10 team league and have Phillip Rivers and Cam Newton. lol.... i wouldn't be suprised if stafford is a top 5 or 6 qb this year. Phillips rivers is doing shitty compared to stafford in fantasy. Big ben is a solid qb that is dependable. Cam and stafford are great but no one knew that when we drafted. |

This was pre-surgery, it was an auction draft in the first year of a keeper league, I got him cheap - figured I might be able to keep him cheap for next year. I have since dropped him, I don't think he'll ever play another down in the NFL again. Stafford's been a stud so far.

Quoted: Big Ben sucks, plus I hate him and the Steelers. Im just biased LOL. Stafford has been good but I think he will drop off. Newton is just an unknown, he has been killing it, can he keep it going? Im thinking I should start him this week.Quoted: Wow, both bad QB's. How many teams in your league? Stafford is tied with Brees and Newton as the 2nd highest scoring fantasy QB in my league. He's thrown for 3 more TDs and 2 less interceptions than Rivers and his QB Rating is 20 points higher. Stafford is the obvious choice to the OP's question and should really be his #1 over Rothlisberger as long as he's healthy. |

I know he did in both of my leagues. |

Minnesota has a terrible pass D with a pretty good run D Indy has a pretty good pass D with a Terrible run D. I would say Stafford will have a better opportunity for a big game if these trends continue. They are both on the road.. so Big Ben's experience *could* help his decisions under pressure, but if I were Pittsburgh I would run Mendenhall ALL DAY LONG. |
Look at the match ups forget the projections. IMHO for certain players , I think ESPN strokes the egos of the players and gives higher projections than what they'll actually get( IE Chris Johnson Titans ) Look at the defense and how they match up and how they stop the run or pass. Both your QBs are good choices as the Vikings and Colts defenses are kind of weak. I'd play Stafford it if were me. ( I'm playing P. Rivers this week as he should destroy the KC Queifs secondary )
I look at previous games and look at game stats, who's healthy, what starters are having injuries or are playing in limited roles ( IE RBs ) |

Things are working out pretty well I would start Stafford. The Lions showed last week they aren't going to stop throwing it, even when they are up big. |

Are you kidding? Go with Stafford!
The Lions are a passing team and will pass even when ahead. Their running game is not that great, unlike the Steelers. Also, in the red zone, he's got Calvin Johnson as his target > Mike Wallace.... Steelers are going to get all up on the Colts and run run run.... |

LOL, my fantasy strategy is basically an attempt to create a win-win situation: I play people I don't like. If they do well, I have a good fantasy week. If they play bad, I'm happy. ETA last week killed me, I scored 183 points and still lost by 40. If I had been playing anyone else in the league, I'd have won by ten points at least. To the OP's question, I have Manning as my backup QB and he hasn't been impressive. I may have to offload him before the Saints' bye week. |
