I'm in the process of getting an Echo SRM trimmer up and running again. I've got the carburetor cleaned and the engine running, but it shuts off whenever I take it off of "choke". Thing is, I'm running it with no muffler. I took the muffler off when it stopped working last year to try and diagnose the problem, and someone in my family misplaced all the parts and screws. My question is, will running the engine with no muffler cause it to run incorrectly due to a lack of back pressure? Thanks for any help! And before anyone jumps in with any Echo hate, this is by far the best weedeater we've ever owned next to the straight shaft John Deere that's out of commission as well right now. It's given 7 years of faithful service with barely any routine maintenance. |

I have an older SRM 610 (maybe) that im parting out.. you are welcome to the muffler if it will work just pay shipping As far as running with the choke closed - mine did the same thing until I poured Seafoam into the cylinder and let it set over night.. I also took the carb apart and some of those TINY holes has varnish type stuff on them.. After that it ran like a scolded dog.. Brian |

The model number is SRM-210, thatguy. Thanks for the offer! I've found the correct muffler online, and will be ordering it soon. Just wanted to make sure before I bought it. As far as the diaphragm, I didn't pay much attention to that when I took the carburetor apart. I was just focusing on getting it cleaned. If I get the muffler and it still doesn't run right, I'll do a carb rebuild. I'll also keep the seafoam in mind. Thanks again, guys!

Use some sort of brake cleaner rather than carb cleaner. Don't poke through check valves thinking that they are plugged or you'll ruin the carb. Your metering lever diaphragm should be dead soft. |

Still have a plug or restriction in the carb somewhere. The unit will alwys run a bit off w/o the muffler but the biggest problem will be keeping trash and dirt out of the engine. How stiff is the metering diaphragm? This...clean the jets out and make sure there is no crap in the fuel line. |

Mine is an SRM-210AE - mine is pretty old and I think there is a 210 (without the AE), which is newer
IF you think it will work I have any parts you need.. I also have a NEW carb rebuild kit for it (i ended up with 2 kits) as well.. Let me know if you are interested.. |

| Thanks, thatguy! I definitely will if I have to do the rebuild. I need to figure out which model carburetor it came with, because supposedly, Echo used different ones over the years, even on the same model. Also, which fuel line is the fuel filter supposed to go on? The black one, or the clear green one? I pulled the black line out (the one running to the primer bulb), and it was torn like someone ripped the filter off, but I want to make sure which one it goes on, because I honestly don't know. I would think that it goes on the clear green line, seeing as how it runs to the carb jets, but I may be wrong. |

Also, I got the muffler ordered along with a new throttle trigger since someone broke off the original one while it was stored .
