I bought a house, and I'm trying to figure out what this bush/shrub/tree/vine thing is.  I cut it way back, to the point of no foliage about 2 weeks ago, and it has come back.  It is sort of like a shrub, but it has some vine type things about 15' long growing around my house on the ground.  One piece also tried to grow up the stucco wall.  I am probably going to tear it out, but I really want to know what the damn thing is.

It is normally a more lush looking green but this is all new growth.

Nandina?

Googling that and I would say quite possibly.  It grows some stuff that is quite scraggly and it is pretty ugly.

Hmm it doesn't bloom, but that could be because it doesn't get full sun.  The leaves look right.

wisteria? ETA: SHould have read that I was beaten too it already. From your description about cutting it back only to have it regrow fast, and not blooming with some shade, sounds exactly like the nightmare wisteria at my mom's house. Wisteria is a very resilliant, fast growing plant that is quite capable of damaging your house it you let it get out of control. However, if well pruned, it is an awesome plant when it blooms.

I think it looks a lot like wisteria, but it is ugly as hell, as was growing really weird before I chopped it up.  It didn't appear to have any flowers on it.

Pretty sure that it is not weed.
