84 Ford F250. A week or more ago I noted I had only one selection of lights. My high beam indicator doesn't work so I can't tell if I was running on low or high beams. In any case the floor dimmer switch was replaced a couple months before this issue. I noticed the other night that my left headlight was flickering. Last night I went out to drive and I had no head lights what so ever, but I do have every other light. I pulled the connections on the headlamps and checked the grounds today, I have no power what so ever to the headlamps.

Not sure if it matters but it could. My radio is having an intermittent turning on and off issue on occasion. Its a pioneer that is wired directly to the battery, ran my one speaker lines, and I have both the case and harness grounded on the radio. Sometimes it will work great, other times it will turn on and off. Leading me to the headlamp switch conclusion is the fact that 80% of the time when I shut down the lights my radio would shut down, not quite sure how in the heck that would happen as I am positive there aren't any wires mixed between the two.

Last issue, I've got a battery isolated where I can run dual batteries and shut them down. If I park at night and shut down the isolator I'll start the next day no problem. If I leave the isolator on my battery is dead the next day.

Anyway, I've checked fuses etc. and find no issue there. These issues are quite interesting and I plan to get a digital multitester( have a regular sweep gauge, but its not as good/easy as a digital version) to track down the issues, but was hoping I could maybe be pointed in a good direction.

You mite want to check the ground between the engine , body and frame. Sometimes the engine to body connection breaks and lots of strange things go on as it intermittently connects.
Go back to the hi lo switch and check for power.
shooting in the dark.

Fuse?

Headlight relay?

And yeah, ground strap between the body and engine...

DIdn't find a fuse listed for said location. None the less I will check them again. I will check the main ground and then the relay and then I guess if I have to I'll replace the switch. These issues are just dang frustrating.

I had the exact same thing happen with the headlights in my 89 Bronco, it was the high beam switch on the floor. Since you just put in a new one I'd check all the connections and if they're good check the switch. As for the radio it's probably a bad ground somewhere.

Headlamp switches on these are known to burn up.  Fairly common thing.  There is a trick to getting them out of the dash.

Care to share, or were you just mentioning that you knew it took a special trick?

Install relays from between the headlight switch and the battery. It gives the headlights full juice without running through the undersized headlight wiring. Google it.

LMC also sells a headlight relay kit but you do it cheaper buying the parts yourself.

Very common in the older Ford trucks.

No way.  That drive train will probably still be kicking long after the headlights, tail lights, dashboard, suspension, and doors fall off.
