It's my work vehicle. I'm on the lookout for a career change, but I'm still working there.

1999 Dodge Grand Caravan

200,000 miles.

Needs tires. Most people would have changed them already, I bet I could get by on them til snow falls.

Needs front brakes pretty soon. They're getting noisy.

Windshield is cracked side to side. Been that way for a while. I'm just concerned about getting a fix-it ticket. I haven't been wanting to put money into this with the computer problem, though.

Instrument cluster doesn't work (Body Control Module related) - I've been chasing this one, but I'm having trouble sourcing a used BCM that works right, thinking it either need to be re-flashed for my specific vehicle, or it's the reason that the source vehicle was in the junkyard.

Oh, and it's due for an oil change.

Runs great.

Essentially, I think this thing is ready for the junkyard. I could maybe find used tires ($100 for a set? no clue, haven't bought used tires since I was in high school), another $20 for mounting @ Wal-Mart. Do the brakes myself for the cost of parts. $75. Windshield, ~$200. Oil change stuff, $25. I'm over $400 for that stuff, and then you still have to use a GPS to tell your speed and remember to fill up the tank every 300 miles or so, unless I go to a dealership and pay them horrible, ungodly amounts of money? (I've heard they charge ~$200 for a reflash, $700 to replace BCM and program)

So, what do you guys think? Should I just let 'er buck until I find a different job, then drive it to the junkyard and take whatever they are paying for running cars? Slap it on CraigsList as-is for $400? Sink $1000 into it to turn it into a vehicle that's worth $1005?

Scrapped cars are getting $300-400 around here, cut off the converter and that's some more $.

Unless the computer continues to go downhill and causes it to stop
running, I think this puppy would probably make it another 100k. Doesn't
use any oil, runs strong, etc etc. BUT, it's not gonna hang around that long (knock on wood I find a diff job soon). It's the 4th vehicle between my wife and I, which is just a ridiculous waste of space and insurance premiums, IMO. The split second I'm done with this job, this sucker is gone.

Hang a sign on it for $500 as-is.  Might get a bite from someone.

I'd sell it to someone that might need a vehicle on Craigslist. Maybe a local church or homeless shelter might be able to make use of it or find it a good home. Donate it and get a tax deduction?
