I'm promoting a movie I was involved in and have to design a website.  How much can I expect to spend to have someone do this?

Most indy movie websites, have this kind of look.  http://www.sarahskey.com.au/  It doesn't have the big blocks of menu items, no side menu running down the left side, no external links or banners.  More fluid looking.

It's a self distribution and we basically need a synopsis, cast bios, trailer, and we need the ability to stream the movie for a fee and sell DVD's through it.

Before anyone asks it's not a porno site, however, thinking about it, we need a fairly similar set up to adult websites I guess.  Just one movie though, not several.  How much money to do this in a way that looks professional and doesn't have you goto a google checkout site or something like that when it's time to enter your credit card number.

I've recently been looking at a bunch of different movie sites and these days,

alot of people go with a very simple template... and let social media do the work.

Basically they feature links to Facebook and twitter.

You can sell the movie easily with a Paypal cart.

As for streaming, that's another story.

I'd probably look to Amazon and see what services they offer.

You can also do rentals now through Youtube.

currently, i am studying web design and interactive media for a second bachelor's degree. after finding someone to do it, you will have to pay for a domain name and whatever the person quotes you. if it is gonna handle a lot of traffic and you want a bunch of cool shit on the page or pages (which will increase the price) it'll probably be a few thousand dollars. however, i have one more year of school left (holding a 4.o gpa) and i have yet to take on a client yet to tell you the entire process and a proper estimate for a quote

Check out wordpress they may have some kind of site installation that would allow you to design your own site fairly easily.  I would start there as they have a great forum as well.  If you have any questions about it (wordpress) feel free to IM me, been using this type of install for work for about a year now.
