All I know about shotguns is  Rem 870 > all others

So I need some help with this Benelli M4 part. What is the name or description for this part?  Some sort of mag extension but it doesn't look like it would add any more rounds to the tube....

First correct answer wins a monkey*

*winner must pick up the prize in person and show two valid forms of ID. Winner is responsible for all tags, taxes, and title. Monkey may not be an actual living creature. Substandard reserves the right to substitute a prize of lesser value.

Factory tube for an M4.

May be a mag plug.

What ever it is, if it's for a Benelli, it's expensive.

I know the answer but I don't want a monkey.

or make it legal for hunting in states that limit mag capacity to two rounds.  If it was sold in such a state, it came with that installed in it.

So it is a "dummy" extension? It just extends the mag tube out to the end of the barrel for looks?

ETA: What would be the value if any on one of these critters?

I believe they are all sold that way to civilians. Not positive though. That only limits them to 4+1 if I remember correctly.

But... You can always buy a US made full length tube and enjoy the M4 for what it really is.

ETA No problem.

Your second sentence is undoubtedly correct.

It doesn't look like the mag plug in the M4 manual, which is a flat disc with a spike coming out of its center.
The threads would seem to indicate it screws into the end of the barrel like a choke tube.

Doesn't look like the choke tubes or limiter plugs on their web site.

Beats me.

I priced a rifled barrel for my Nova.  The damn barrel cost more than the entire gun.  Just the barrel, with rifle sights, costs $440 from Benelli.

The Benelli M4 barrel has a ring a the very end of the barrel that connects with the mag tube. Since the civilian M4 is only 5+1+1, this tube only serves as a spacer.

Years ago I tried to order a rifled barrel, not from Benelli, but another outfit whose name escapes me. It was around 4 bills at that time. After some months it arrived it was for another model, so I took that as a message for God and cancelled the order.

eta- was a Shaw barrel, I think.

I know Gravity3694 will enjoy his new monkey.

Here is a mag extension tube that will addup to four additional 2¾" shells.

I have that exact extension. I replaced it with a carrier comp full length tube.

Anyone who wants that extension I will give it to them if they pay postage.

It's a mag tube extension. The cap screws onto the visible threads. The other end threads onto the tube that attaches to the shotgun.
