I've started working our new Drahthaar pup in the field in anticipation for the up coming bird season. While out in the fields today it dawned on me that it would be pretty tough to kill a rattler with my G26 and my normal carry ammo.
I thought about picking up some CCI snake shot but I'm not sure how well they would work on a big snake or if the would even cycle the action. I then thought about getting a revolver for the same thing and I even though about a Judge.
What's your go to snake gun? |

What's your go to snake gun? You don't have really big rattlesnakes in Montana, but you have shitloads of them in some places. The shotshells will work fine at close range, although outside of the yard, I don't know what good shooting them is going to do you. |

I've only shot the 45 ACP shot shells through a 1911 but in my experience they wont cycle the action.
I personally prefer using a 357 Mag revolver, because I buy the shot capsules and load my own shot shells with #4 or #6 shot, since I prefer the larger shot. Factory shotshells use #8 IIRC. |
